Suggestions on the materials to use in OESH Create shoes and where to find them:
Fabric
Fabric cut out from an old pair of jeans from your closet or a thrift shop, with or without an old bedsheet for lining, is a great starting point. If you’re buying material, look for a fabric that is around 14-16 ounces in weight, which is about the thickness and feel of typical jeans material or of your average upholstery fabric. Alternatively, you can use multiple layers of thinner weight fabrics. If you find something online that you have good success with, please share the link! For example, we’ve had good success using a 14 ounce hemp denim that we purchased online from Bulk Hemp Warehouse (https://www.bulkhempwarehouse.com/55-hemp-45-cotton-muslin-14oz/).Thread
The best kind of material we’ve found to stitch the upper onto the sole is waxed thread, which can usually be found alongside leathercraft supplies.
The amount you will need will vary depending on size and style, probably between 14ft and 25ft per pair.
